Amazing Maasai Girls Project is committed to supporting each child, from the moment she's most at risk after elementary school — through secondary school, through university — and graduate her as a qualified professional and a proven community leader.
This seven-year commitment can be divided between three phases, focused on: protection, education & leadership.
Phase 2: Educate
Higher Education for all graduates
In 2026, AMGP made the biggest strategic commitment in its fifteen-year history. No girl who finishes secondary school with us is left without a path to higher education. Whether it’s a university degree or college diploma, we will ensure our qualifying graduates are supported in pursuing independence.
In 2025, AMGP's leadership made a formal commitment. Every girl who graduates from secondary school with AMGP support will receive a full university scholarship. The pipeline continues, automatically, into higher education.
This is the single biggest strategic shift in our history, and it changes what AMGP fundamentally is: not a secondary school program with good outcomes, but a seven-year leadership pipeline that produces qualified professionals and active community changemakers.
Silvia Meshami received support throughout her schooling from the AMGP and now works back in her community as a graduate with a degree in teaching. She has achieved financial independence and is committed to investing her career in further progressing her community through education.
The mechanics of affordable excellence
GOVERNMENT SUPPORT
HELB grants reduce the cost to AMGP
Kenya's Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) provides means-tested grants and bursaries to students from low-income families. Every AMGP scholar qualifies. AMGP tops up the remainder — on average, covering roughly $1,180 per year after HELB support. This is why university is affordable at scale.
UNIVERSITY SELECTION
Kenya's public university system does the ranking
Kenya's Joint Admissions Board (JAB) places secondary school graduates into public universities based on their KCSE results. AMGP girls compete and are placed by merit. We cover their fees at whichever institution they're placed — from the University of Nairobi to regional universities across Kenya.
LIVING SUPPORT
We cover more than tuition
University tuition alone isn't enough. AMGP also covers accommodation, meals, books, and a modest personal allowance. A girl shouldn't have to drop out because she can't afford a textbook or a bus ticket home at semester break.
IN-COUNTRY SUPPORT
AMGP is with them the whole way
Our in-country coordinators stay in regular contact with every university scholar. Our team brings the scholars together two-three times a year in Nanyuki. No girl navigates university alone.
They choose their own path
We don't steer girls toward any particular discipline. AMGP scholars are placed into Kenyan universities based on their KCSE results and their own preferences. The range of degrees they're pursuing reflects how seriously they take their education.
