Music for Maasai Girls Education
McGill University, Montreal, Canada - April 2014
April 6, 2014 - A committed group of students at Montreal's McGill Univeristy partnered up with The Amazing Maasai Girls Project earlier in April, to hold a spring concert fundraiser for girls education in Kenya. The student event, lead by Maya Stein and her friends Evelyn Kaczmarek & Sandhya Sabapathy of Ettuchantes Student Music Society, raised in one night enough to cover the secondary school fees of a girl in Laikipia County, Kenya, for a full year.
The Amazing Maasai Girls Project was thrilled to receive the support of Maya & Ettuchantes, who generously committed their time, energy, and music talents to helping fellow students more than 7,000 miles away. 100% of the funds are to be committed directly to school fees for another talented young lady in Laikipia, who would otherwise have no means to continue beyond primary school. Thank you, Ettuchantes! For more information about holding your own fundraiser or supporting in other ways, click here. |
Amazing Maasai Marathon 2013 - $46,000 Raised!Laikipia, Kenya - October 2013
The Amazing Maasai Girls Project primary fundraiser, the Amazing Maasai Marathon, took place this year on September 30, 2013. Year 3 of our colorful community-based race built on the success of previous years, with 300+ runners registered for the 75km, 42km and 21km races and multitudes of volunteers who came out to help.
Runners from more than 12 countries came together to run alongside the Maasai in the foothills of Mt. Kenya in support of girls education. To view race results, click here. More than $46,000 was raised from the event proceeds and runner fundraising, 100% of which will go towards Maasai girls scholarship fees. A wonderful success - huge thanks from the AMGP team to everyone involved! |
Silent Auction for Amazing Girls
Shanghai, China - September 2013
A total of $3,500 was raised earlier this month for the AMGP by our amazing friends out in Shanghai. Ex-pats Quan Trinh & Heather McIsaac led the organization of the silent auction and raffle, securing auction prizes that ranged from four-star hotel getaways, to frozen yogurt and fitness classes.
All proceeds of the evening will go towards scholarships for Maasai girls in Laikipia, Kenya, and will be added to the total raised in the Amazing Maasai Marathon later on this month. Thank you to everyone who attended, and the generous prize sponsors, including Snow Maple Desserts, Sprout Lifestyle, Spin Back, Alive Shanghai, Expat Cucina, Naked Retreats, VCleanse, the Shangri-La Hotel Guangzhou, and Reebok Crossfit MeWellness. A HUGE thanks also to Heather & Quan for putting everything together and being amazing advocates for girls education. |
