Nine of our Amazing Girls graduated from secondary school this December, having taken their KCSE (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education) exams. These are our students who secured four-year scholarships and started school in 2013, thanks to the fundraising of 2012! Congratulations to them all!!!

Last year we were proud to report of our very first set of graduates. We are so pleased to share with you updates from some of those girls, who are now in college.
We are delighted to share the following interview with Weldon Kennedy, co-founder of Enda Sportswear, Kenya's first running shoe.
In case you missed it, in June Enda Sportswear raised well over $100k on Kickstarter. The enormous success of their crowdfunding campaign means the team are now working full throttle to bring Kenyan-made shoes to the world. Enda is a social enterprise and girls' education is close to their hearts - we truly love what they are doing. Read on for more from Weldon... Last Saturday, August 30th, more than 1,000 runners in 39 locations across 15 countries joined the first annual Amazing Maasai Global Run. From London to Alaska, "Donate Your Run Day" became a truly GLOBAL movement. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined and/or contributed to the fundraising efforts. Between this year's Amazing Maasai Marathon in Kenya and the Global Run, more than $20,000 was raised that day. In Kenya, it costs just $400/year to keep a girl in secondary school, so this total will go a long way to giving new 4-year scholarships for our 2015 intake. By donating, you have helped save more smart, spirited young ladies from childhood marriage, and given them much brighter futures to strive towards. We have put together a lil' movie (below) to celebrate the spirit of the event and inspire an even bigger version for 2015! Enjoy - and share it with your friends! ... And for those who've asked: Yep!!!! We are still very much welcoming donations online here, so please contribute if you can, and get your buddies to chip in! Together, we are educating girls in Kenya. |
